Without falling too far into a sycophantic swamp, suffice it to say that Edward James Olmos is an American Icon.
Born February 24, 1947, Olmos grew up in the streets of East Los Angeles. Everyday life was often violent. Whether it was a group of drunken sailors, deranged cops or ethnic brotherhoods, Olmos dealt with gang violence as he grew up. Before he discovered that acting was his true calling.
